Mbappe is expected to assume the number 9 role in Madrid which was left vacant, following the surprise exit of Benzema.
Kylian Mbappé has been a trending figure in the transfer market for some time now. This year’s development surrounding the 24-year-old’s Paris Saint-Germain contract looks to be boiling up in unrealistic endings.
Mbappe whose contract will technically end coming next year 2024 summer refused to trigger the extension clause for 2025 with a reason of unsatisfactory performance output in all angles.

On 6 March 2016, Mbappé signed his first professional contract, a three-year deal, tying him to Monaco until June 2019.
Kylian Mbappé signed for PSG from Monaco on August 31, 2017, in a loan deal. At that time, reports indicated that part of Mbappe’s convincing loan deal to join the French side was a tipping point approach by the then coach Unai Emery.
Kylian Mbappé however fully joined the French side in a €145 million reported fee plus an amount of €35 million in add-ons, which was known to have made the most expensive teenagers ever for that particular year.
Thus, Mbappé became the second-most expensive player and most expensive adolescent player of all time in 2017 when, at the age of 18, he agreed to a €180 million permanent transfer to Paris Saint-Germain which lasted until June 2022.
Kylian Mbappe then was known to have extended his contract with PSG on May 21, 2022, until the year 2025 with an extension clause for the last year. Before that extension, there were growing speculations of a possible transfer to Real Madrid.
A year later, Mbappe sent a shock wave to the Paris Saint-Germain board on June 13, 2023, in an official statement to affirm his decision not to trigger the 2025 extension clause in a contract expected to expire in June 2024, a decision the club has already been informed about.
However, this didn’t go down with Al Khelaifi who is the current president of PSG and they have decided to sign the forward to not lose him for free in the recent summer window.
Kylian Mbappe’s Role In Real Madrid
As a result of PSG’s decision to exclude the French World Cup champion from their preseason trip and rumors that he will no longer practice with the first-team players, Kylian Mbappe has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, and those rumors are gaining steam. Never before has he focused more intently on the exit.
According to AS, Mbappe won’t be able to demand to play in his preferred position as a left winger because Vinicius currently holds that position and will keep doing so because the club views him as the team’s MVP.
The coaching staff, though, is certain that the Frenchman will make a fantastic center-forward because of his ability to score goals.
