West Ham United joint chairman David Gold, has died at the age of 86, the Premier League club have announced.
“It is with deep sadness that West Ham United FC confirm that our beloved Joint-Chairman David Gold passed away on Wednesday morning following a short illness.” Said a club statement on Twitter.
David Gold was born on the 9th September, 1936 in Stepney in east London, opposite West Ham’s old Boleyn Ground.He was a British businessman and also the chairman of Birmingham City Football Club until 2009. He became the joint chairman of West Ham United from 2010 until today 4th January,2023 when he passed away.
He represented the club’s boys’ team between the ages of 13 and 16 before he later on joined the youth side. He became joint-chairman of the Hammers in January 2010 alongside David Sullivan.
Gold’s daughters Jacqueline and Vanessa, and his fiancee Lesley, were by his side when he passed away peacefully this Wednesday morning.
